Aviva Investors is making a significant leap into the world of digital assets by launching a tokenised share class of its Sterling Liquidity Fund. By utilizing the XRP Ledger with technical support from Ripple, the asset manager is bringing one of its most substantial offerings to the blockchain. This specific fund manages roughly 22 billion pounds in assets, marking it as the largest fund currently under management for the firm.

This latest move follows a similar strategy implemented earlier this year when Aviva tokenised its USD Liquidity Fund back in July. To signal their commitment to this technological shift and provide immediate momentum, Aviva has already invested 50 million pounds, or approximately 66 million dollars, into the new initiative. The transition aims to streamline how liquidity funds are handled through more efficient settlement processes.

By integrating traditional finance vehicles with distributed ledger technology, Aviva is positioning itself at the forefront of a broader industry trend toward real world asset tokenisation. The use of the XRP Ledger suggests a push toward faster transaction speeds and lower operational costs compared to legacy banking systems. As institutional interest in blockchain grows, moves like these suggest that high volume liquidity funds may soon become standard fixtures on public ledgers.
