Grayscale Investments is making a strategic move to bring artificial intelligence tokens to a broader audience by seeking to transform its existing Bittensor trust into a formal exchange traded fund. In an amended registration statement submitted to the Securities and Exchange Commission, the asset manager detailed its plan to shift the vehicle’s structure, which would allow investors easier access to the decentralized machine learning network through traditional brokerage accounts.

If the regulators give the green light, the new product will be listed on NYSE Arca under the ticker symbol GTAO. This transition represents part of a larger trend where institutional firms are attempting to bridge the gap between complex blockchain projects and mainstream financial markets, following the successful blueprint laid out by Bitcoin and Ethereum funds earlier this year.

Currently, shares of the trust already trade over the counter, but converting to an ETF would provide significantly more liquidity and transparency for shareholders. While final approval remains subject to both regulatory review and exchange requirements, the filing signals Grayscale’s confidence in Bittensor as a viable pillar for institutional portfolios focused on the intersection of crypto and AI.
